Talking Tweens and Teens

This 3-day workshop is designed for students who desire to improve their communication skills but do not wish to enter competition. Each 4-hour day will cover particular aspects of public speaking and highlight different types of speeches. Specific practicum, drills, and exercises will accompany each session.

Day 1 – Spontaneous Speaking

Students learn how to be comfortable in front of others “on their feet.”

Day 2 – Platform Speaking

Students use their own words to inform, inspire and persuade.

Day 3 – Interpretive Speaking

Students bring to life someone else’s words.

  • Nonverbal Communication
  • Joke telling
  • Monologues
  • Recitation
  • Storytelling

Time: Each 4-hour session includes a break for snack
